'POWERSTREAM RANGE'
of
UNIVERSAL WATERMOTORS

(for power outputs up to 15 kW)

For projects with an output up to 15 kW, we have developed a comprehensive range of watermotors. Popular in Victorian times for driving all manner or industrial equipment they have retreated to a number of specialist areas where the use of electrical power is less suitable, including those with explosive atmospheres such as mines, offshore oil and gas installations. Other applications include fire and rescue services, irrigation systems and sub-sea power tools.

The nature of a watermotor is that they are very simple and built to a standard design. There are numerous options that can be incorporated, but it is usually necessary for custom designs to be built in small batches.

ULTRA HIGH PRESSURE WATER MOTORS
(for water hydraulic applications up to 100 Bar)

Evans Engineering Watermotor

Positive displacement piston and gear motors of the type used in conventional oil hydraulic systems are less suitable for continuous operation in harsh environments such as you would find in offshore applications. Providing the power for remote production platforms using the seawater injection systems running at over 100 Bar of pressure is one such application, and transmitting the power from wave and tidal energy devices is another. The life and/or maintenance interval for conventional oil hydraulics can be as low as 2000 hours, whereas a water motor operating at the same pressure should exceed 10 times this figure between overhauls.

STANDARD BASIC SPECIFICATION

STANDARD OPTIONS

HIGH PRESSURE WATER MOTORS

(for applications up to 200 metres of head)

High pressure watermotor

Stope lighting systems in gold mining operations have made use of our small high-pressure water motors to drive explosion proof generators. The supply water was the high-pressure refrigeration water that is continuously sprayed onto the working face to keep the miners cool (because of the great depth). Valuable features of these turbines are their safety and reliability.

LOW PRESSURE WATER MOTORS

(for applications up to 10 metres of head)

Low Pressure water motors have applications such as the drive for mobile irrigators. Some of the pressure delivered to the irrigator is utilised by the water motor to drive the reeling system that moves the irrigator along.
